African American
Equality Collection

The African American Equality Collection was a book cover redesign of three historical books located in the West Virginia & Regional History Center. All three covers are related to real books, including the author and title.

The Process

For this project I took a trip to the West Virginia & Regional History Center located in the libary at WVU. I spent a few hours tearing apart the library finding books that related to one another in some way. I found the three books listed below and combined them into a collection of their own.

The collection was to share some similarities and consistencies in design and heirarchy through the use of color and type. I redesigned the covers many times through trial and error until they looked like they belonged together.
