MIXT came about due to my first project in my web design course. This project focuses on the design, functionality, and usability of web and interactive applications. I was to design the mobile and desktop user interface of a web and computer application.
I created a persona about an engineering student who really likes listening to his local bands on SoundCloud and his favorite remixes on YouTube Music. Issue is, he constantly has to switch between music apps to do so. MIXT could put all of Alex’s favorite music into one centralized location.
When prompted with the project, I immediately had a vision on how I thought the app should work. I sketched down the layout for each page of the application for all device sizes, beginning with mobile
My next step was to mock up my design. I designed every mobile screen for the application, along with blowing up three screens of my choice for tablet and desktop versions.
With the tablet version, I made sure to use all of the screen real-estate to minimize most of the screens needed for mobile in the tablet version. Everything is on the single large display. You’re able to change applications, playlists, songs, and more all from a single screen.
